Volunteering
What’s in it for you?
Any volunteering hours we capture helps the College as a community understand what types of volunteering roles are available in our local area. This helps us further build our volunteering community and highlights key areas to colleagues who would like to get into volunteering (local awareness building). Having real time volunteering updates not only raises awareness but also inspires other colleagues to volunteer. Sharing information allows us as a College build a volunteering community, which in turn creates conversation, raises questions, identifies opportunities and improves wellbeing.
The impact of our volunteering will be measured through a “social value calculator”; calculating the amount of volunteering hours that have been contributed in monetary terms to social goals such as increasing access to employment and skills; helping the environment; and growing businesses.
The volunteering element is split into two categories: General and Expert.
- Expert volunteering is where you are providing expertise in a specific area eg, legal, accountancy, technical, communications.
- General volunteering is any type of volunteering that does not require a specialist skillset.
