Course Content

This qualification provides the perfect foundation for your successful career in business management in the private or public sector. The Foundation Degree in Business Management focuses on developing your knowledge, skills and abilities to prepare you for a range of careers in business such as Management, Marketing, Finance and Economics. Learners are supported to be entrepreneurial in their outlook to reflect local and regional economic needs.

During your course you may be required to purchase course text books and incur additional costs for printing, photocopying and binding. The overall additional costs incurred to support your studies may be in the region of £250 per year. *The fees quoted are payable for each year.

Assessment Methods

Testing knowledge, understanding and application to industry will principally be through work-based assessment, practical reports, oral and written submissions and formal examinations.


Range 64-72 UCAS points, four GCSE passes to include English and Maths at grade C (or equivalent), or equivalent approved qualification at Level 3. Refer to general entry requirements.

Where students wish to have prior education and/or experience taken into account, in lieu of meeting the full course entry requirements, they should contact the relevant Course Director or Admissions. APEL applications must be submitted at least 2 weeks before the start date of the programme. More details can be found in the APEL Policy.


The programme offers progression to: Part time Ulster University BSc Hons in Business (delivered at Northern Regional College); Ulster University’s BSc (Hons) Business with Specialisms full-time or part-time at Magee College; or other degrees at Ulster University. More options are available through the UCAS or CAO system. A range of careers in business such as marketing, finance, administration, purchasing and management, with a specific emphasis on meeting local and regional needs.
