Course Aims

This course is ideal for those who wish to pursue technical and professional careers in the Built Environment such as Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Construction and Project Management and Building. It is also suitable for those already in related employment who wish to improve their qualifications. The course content includes Construction Technology, An introduction to Building Information Modelling (BIM), Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Building and Site Surveying, Building Design and the Development Process.

Course Update

Please note from September 2025, all Ballymena courses are planned to move to the new Ballymena campus at Farm Lodge.


Applicants must satisfy the general entry requirements of GCSE English grade C and GCSE Mathematics grade C or University-approved equivalent, and passes in four different subjects, of which one should be at GCE Advanced level and three at GCSE level or an equivalent standard in an approved alternative qualification. Applicants should have a minimum of 56 UCAS tariff points.

Where mature students wish to have prior education and/or experience taken into account, in lieu of meeting the full course entry requirements, they should contact the relevant Course Director or Admissions by 12th August, as an application deadline will apply. It is at the College's discretion to consider APEL enquiries after the dates stated.


On successful completion of this course and depending on performance, students may apply for entry to Year 2 of the following Ulster University Honours degree programmes:
