Course Content

The objectives of the OCN NI Level 3 Award in Employability in Health and Social Care are to enable learners to understand:

  • key aspects of relevant legislation, statutory responsibilities and rights of employees and employers
  • employee and employer arrangements and agreed ways of working
  • different health and social care career pathways and opportunities
  • how issues of public concern may affect trust in and delivery of services Progression

Course Aims

The OCN NI Level 3 Award in Employability in Health and Social Care has been designed to enable learners to understand employee and employer rights and responsibilities in health and social care settings. Qualification Objectives 


Course Update

This course is fully funded by the Department for the Economy, under the Skill Up Programme. This course is a part of a suite of free online accredited courses that the College is offering to upskill, retrain and gain a qualification with no costs associated.


You must be at least 18 years of age.
You must be a resident of Northern Ireland and eligible to work in the UK.
You will be required to have sufficient literacy and numeracy skills to enable them to successfully complete the qualification.


This course allows for progression to the OCN NI Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Northern Ireland) and/or to higher level qualifications in health and social care.
