This Foundation Degree prepares you for a career in the Hospitality and Tourism industry. Students will gain the underpinning knowledge required for hospitality and tourism management roles. Through work-based learning, the course provides opportunities to develop and enhance practical and interpersonal skills.
On completion students will be equipped with the supervisory and management skills required for a career in the hospitality industry.
Course Content
Students will gain the knowledge, practical skills and industrial experience required for management roles in the hospitality and tourism industry. Throughout the course students will gain an understanding of the global hospitality industry, and develop skills required for the challenges and opportunities it presents.
Successful completion of the programme requires learners to achieve 240 CATS points from modules studied including: Introduction to Tourism, Hospitality & Events, Management in Action; Managing Financial Performance; Events Operations; Personal Professional Development; Food and Beverage Management; Marketing and Entrepreneurship.

During your course you may be required to purchase course textbooks and incur additional costs for mandatory day trips. Site visits, trips, guest speakers and networking events are an integral part of the programme designed to increase employability and enhance individual skill sets.

This course is validated by Ulster University.
Assessment Methods
Students are assessed throughout the course by written assignments, practical work, presentations and class tests. Students will also complete a project while on compulsory work placement.
University Connections
Applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years of age on or before 1st July 2024; and
satisfy Ulster University’s general entry requirements including;
- Have a minimum of 64 UCAS points from appropriate level 3 qualifications, achieved through the completion of A Levels, National Awards, Access or other alternative approved level 3 qualifications; and
- 4 GCSE passes including English and Mathematics (min grade 4/C) or equivalent and two A-Levels or equivalent; or
- Ulster University Approved Access Diploma eg. Access Diploma in Foundation Studies (with an overall average of 60%+).
Or
- Provide evidence of their ability to undertake the programme through the accreditation of prior experiential learning (APEL).
Attendance at a pre-entry advice session is mandatory prior to enrolment.
Where mature students wish to have prior education and/or experience taken into account, in lieu of meeting the full course entry requirements, they should contact the relevant Course Director or Admissions by 12th August, as an application deadline will apply. It is at the College's discretion to consider APEL enquiries after the dates stated.
Students may wish to complete a summer bridging course and then progress to final year of BSc (Hons) International Hospitality Management at Ulster University. Bridging options for final year entry are possible subject to academic performance and mapping of modules or pathway undertaken.
Students can progress into employment in a wide variety of hospitality and tourism organisations in management and leadership roles.
