Course Content

This course is designed to provide you with essential background knowledge on special educational needs and disability issues. You will review the key aspects of working with children including: safeguarding issues; the important role of other organisations; and the skills needed to support and work with families with children with special educational needs and disability.   

You will be taught on campus one evening per week and by online learning as part of the College's unique blended learning approach.

Assessment Methods

You will be internally assessed 

You must:

• have a Level 3 subject specialist qualification; and
• either be in paid employment or undertaking a voluntary placement for a minimum of two days per week. 

Where students wish to have prior education and/or experience taken into account, in lieu of meeting the full course entry requirements, they should contact the relevant Course Director or Admissions. This is a continuous professional development course for anyone working with adults or children with learning difficulties.
