Course Aims
This qualification is for Early Years practitioners who would like to broaden their knowledge and work in playwork settings. It aims to enable learners to understand the theories and principles of play and playwork and how to support the needs and rights of children to create diverse, inclusive play environments. It also provides knowledge on how to support children and young people to manage risk, establishing and maintaining links with other organisations and individuals, and organisational frameworks. It does not confirm occupational competence as a playworker.
Students do not need to be working or attend work placements to complete this qualification.
Assessment Methods
Students must complete 2 mandatory units.All units will be internally assessed.
Students must have achieved a suitable Level 3 early years qualification such as the Level 3 Diploma in Child Care and Education or the Level 3 NVQ in Children's Care, Learning and Development, the Level 3 NVQ Early Years, Care and Education, the Level 3 NVQ in Childcare and Education, the Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce (Early Years pathway) and the NNEB.
