Return to work after a break in employment, or
Gain formal recognition for all of your experience to date, Ignite Your Skills has a pathway for you subject to eligibility

Your journey with Ignite Your Skills will begin with a friendly personalised career skills assessment. You’ll then be guided towards one of the exciting pathways below that is best suited to your career goals:

Renew

Update your skills and qualifications to reflect advancements in technology or the sector you work in. You can be confident your skills are relevant and you can build your career with confidence. You can either be employed or unemployed for this pathway but if unemployed you should be job-ready and actively seeking work. You’ll receive:

An individual skills assessment
Guidance to the right courses or professional development for you
Personalised Mentoring/Support

Return

Re-enter the workforce again after a break and enjoy gaining new skills and qualifications, all while receiving tailored support and mentoring. With Return, you’ll receive:

An individual skills assessment
A one-to-one with an experienced advisor
Three sessions to help with personalising your CV, Interview Skills and Completing Application forms/Skills
Guidance on the right courses and training for you
Mentoring/support
The option to take part in five days of work experience (with no loss of benefits and a daily incentive of between £10 and £50).

Recognise

This is the strand for you if you have no or little formal qualifications but have a wealth of practical and professional skills gained while in employment. Showcase your value with the Recognise strand and receive formal recognition for the application of all your professional skills, knowledge, and experience to date. You’ll receive:

An individual skills assessment
Receive guidance on getting your experience formally recognised

Eligibility

Ignite Your Skills is open to everyone who meets the following criteria:

Is 40 years of age or over
Eligible to work in Northern Ireland
‘Settled’ in Northern Ireland and has been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least three years; or
Is a person who has indefinite leave to enter or remain in the UK
