Holly Robinson and Chloe McAuley, two Access Diploma in Social Science students, have graduated from Northern Regional College’s Ballymena campus upon learning about the multiple career avenues it could lead. Both graduates reflected on why they decided to study the course. Holly who had a role as a Cabin Crew team member for EasyJet, said the pandemic changed her mind set about her career.

Laurence Ross, a Level 5 Higher National Diploma (HND) in Creative Media student has graduated from Northern Regional College’s Newtownabbey campus. Laurence, who has studied at the College for five years in total, completed a Level 2 and Level 3 in IT before completing the Level 5 HND in Creative Media.

Carolyn McLaughlin, a Foundation Degree in Integrative Counselling Practice student, has graduated from Northern Regional College’s Ballymena campus after making the decision to change career after 20 years working in finance. Reflecting on why she decided to change careers, the Ballymena local decided that she wanted to help others, saying she “wanted to develop and fulfil a career that put others first.”

Khanyisa Mafumo, a Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Social and Community Work student, has graduated from Northern Regional College’s Newtownabbey campus after making the decision to follow her passion. Before enrolling on the course, Khanyisa was a teaching assistant on a voluntary basis with a background in community work.

‘Bring IT On’ Event

The ‘Bring IT On’ event was sponsored by Department for the Economy and saw 60 Year 11 – 14 pupils from Magherafelt High School and Sperrin Integrated College taking part in an educational initiative to showcase computer science opportunities at Northern Regional College. The College worked collaboratively with local employers such as the RAF, PSNI, Cyber Unit and Instil to provide a series of computer science workshops and coding activities for post-primary school pupils in the Magherafelt area.

Tyler Evans, a Northern Regional College graduate, has experienced a huge career highlight working as a videographer at the 2022 UEFA Women’s Euros. Tyler completed a TV and Film course at Northern Regional College after completing his A levels at Slemish College in Ballymena.
