The official Construction Notice has been issued to permit construction works to commence on building a new campus for the College at Farm Lodge. This will replace the existing Farm Lodge and Trostan Avenue campuses, consolidating the two sites into one.

The opportunity to get practical ‘hands-on’ experience of creative media and industry standard equipment has proved valuable for TV and Film students at Northern Regional College. Amy Morrow, Samuel Lee Holmes and Matthew McClure have just completed their first year of a Level 3 Extended Diploma in TV and Film (Creative Practice) at the College’s Coleraine campus; a two-year vocational course is the academic equivalent of 3 A-levels.

Having completed his initial training in Northern Regional College’s well equipped motor vehicle workshops, Portrush man Alastair Turkington is now a workshop controller, working at a Master Technician level with Edwin May Volkswagen Coleraine. After studying A-level Geography, English Literature and Biology, Alastair decided to follow his heart, commenting: “When I was younger, my initial plan was to study and become a meteorologist, so I had completed my A-levels in preparation for going to university.

Seven Northern Regional students have qualified for the national finals of this year’s WorldSkills UK competitions. The College will be represented in four skills areas: Industrial Robotics, CNC Milling, IT Support Technician and Joinery. They will compete for gold, silver and bronze at the finals, which will take place in venues across the UK, week commencing 14 November.
