Engineering students Julia Millar and Thomas Simpson (‘The Cyborgs’) will represent Northern Regional College in next week’s WorldSkills UK Industrial Robotics national final. Both successfully completed a Foundation Degree in Engineering at Northern Regional College in Ballymena and have since progressed directly to the second year of a BEng degree at Ulster University.

Engineering students Cameron Middleton and Adam Kirkpatrick (‘Hammer Basher and Sparky’), will represent Northern Regional College in the WorldSkills UK Industrial Robotics national final. Adam completed a Foundation Degree in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering while Cameron undertook a Foundation Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Both studied at the College in Ballymena and have progressed to the second year of BEng (Hons) degree at Ulster University.

Engineering students Jude Moore and Aaron Stevenson who make up ‘The Athletes’ Industrial Robotics team, will represent Northern Regional College in the WorldSkills UK national finals next week. The national finals are traditionally held at the NEC, Birmingham but, because of Covid restrictions, this year’s finals will take place in 23 different locations across the UK. ‘The Athletes’ is one of four teams in the Industrial Robotics final and with all four teams representing Northern Regional College, WorldSkills invited the College to host the Industrial Robotics final at its Ballymena campus, Farm Lodge.

Economy Minister Gordon Lyons today visited Northern Regional College (NRC) to launch a new Assured Skills Collaborative Welding Academy, with 12 training places. Successful applicants to the Academy will receive industry standard welding training that will provide them with the skills to take up potential welding roles with one of six companies in Ballymoney, Ballymena and the surrounding area. Applications will open on Monday 15 November.

Global Perspectives on Health and Social Care, Collaborative Discussions with Northern Ireland and the U.S on November 16th – 17th, is organised by North West Regional College, Northern Regional College and Ulster University, in partnership with St Petersburg College in Florida.
