An aspiring young web designer from Bangor who made it through the national qualifier round of the prestigious World Skills Web Design competition earlier this month, had more to celebrate this week. Jonathon Wilsdon completed a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media (Interactive Media) with the highest possible grade to secure his place at Ulster University to do a BDes (Hons) degree in Interaction Design.

Northern Regional College is collaborating with the other Further Education colleges across Northern Ireland to help support the recovery of the retail sector. The ‘Retail Recovery’ programme, which is fully funded through the Department for the Economy’s Flexible Skills Fund and Skills Focus programme, will kick-start with bespoke training this month through a series of webinars on support available, accessing finance and people management.

Engineering students from Northern Regional College’s Ballymena Campus took part in the national UK Skills Industrial Robotics Competition. The second stage of the competition took place in Farm Lodge over two days. A total of twelve students from a variety of engineering courses, including Level 3 Extended Diploma, Higher Level Apprenticeship and Foundation Degree, participated in the competition where they performed an offline programming task set and assessed by FANUC Ltd.
