Northern Regional College has been awarded the NI Diversity and Inclusion Charter Mark in recognition of its commitment to promoting equality for all. The College’s Equality and Wellbeing Manager Fiona McDowell said the award was an acknowledgement of the work being done throughout the College to promote diversity and inclusion among staff and students.

A Coleraine women who enrolled at Northern Regional College as a mature student has just started a new career as a classroom assistant in a local primary school. After leaving secondary school, Samantha Stewart went to university and graduated with a BA Hons degree in Humanities. She worked in accounts for over 12 years and then decided she needed a complete change.

Studying Health and Social Care at Northern Regional College has opened the door to academic success and set a Ballymena student on the road to fulfilling her dream of becoming a nurse. Grace Thompson has just completed a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care at the College in Ballymena with a triple Distinction*, the equivalent standard of three A*s at A-level. She secured offers from all five universities she applied to and has accepted a place at Queen’s University Belfast to start an Adult Nursing degree in February 2021.

Being a student at Northern Regional College helped rekindle his enthusiasm for learning, according to Ballyclare teenager, Daniel Trew. Daniel has just completed a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care at the College’s Newtownabbey campus with a triple Distinction* - the equivalent standard of three A*s at A level - and has accepted a place to study Psychology at the University of Stirling in Scotland.

Leaving school after AS levels to go to Northern Regional College to do a BTEC Diploma in Applied Science was a hard decision to make but as it turns out, absolutely the right one, according to Portstewart student Jenna Craig. Jenna, who was a student at the College’s Coleraine campus, completed the Level 3 Extended Diploma with a triple Distinction* - the equivalent of three A*s at A level – and has accepted a place at Ulster University to study Diagnostic Radiography and Imaging.

A former Business student at Northern Regional College who launched his own online clothing company during the lockdown, has donated profits from trading during August to The Olive Branch, a local mental health charity. Luke McIlreavy from Ballymoney, did a HNC in Business at the College’s Coleraine campus before progressing to Ulster University to do a Business Information Systems degree. He is currently on placement with Randox and when he graduates, plans to do a Master’s degree in Software Engineering.
