As the cost of going to university continues to rise, the commitment to a further three or four years of book learning can seem daunting and simply may not be the right next step for those who are ready for something new. This is the opinion for two young people who have embarked on apprenticeships with the Galgorm Resort & Spa and Northern Regional College.

This is the opinion of 18-year-old James Blair from Ballymena, has taken on the role of professional cookery apprentice with the Galgorm Resort & Spa and Northern Regional College.

Performing Arts and Music students at Northern Regional College’s Ballymoney campus have pooled their talents to stage a memorable end of year showcase event. The entertaining programme included original music penned by students, covers of hits from popular musicals like Phantom of the Opera, Fame, The Greatest Show and Mama Mia, as well as comedy and dance routines.

Northern Regional College’s Newtownabbey and Ballymena campuses recently hosted its Creative Industries Showcase at The Theatre at the Mill, Newtownabbey. The event was a showcase of courses within the creative industries and student work, whilst also providing an opportunity for talent scouts, industry guests and press to meet with staff and students, allowing them to experience the College’s creative talents.
