Studying creative media at Northern Regional College gave a young Belfast woman the necessary skills and experience to secure her first industry job. Last month Holly Strutt was among the thousands of young people across Northern Ireland to receive A level and BTEC results. With a triple Distinction* in her BTEC Level 3 Digital Games Development, which is a vocational course equivalent of three A*s at A level, she landed a job, funded by NI Screen as Trainee Production Co-ordinator at Humain – Digital Humans.

County Antrim woman, Leanne Crawford, who is a Supply Chain Specialist with Wrightbus in Ballymena and second year Higher Level Supply Chain & Logistics Apprentice at Northern Regional College, has given the Higher Level Apprenticeship a ringing endorsement.

A Northern Regional College bench joinery apprentice employed by Mivan has been named Young Apprentice of the Year 2023. Conor Dallas (25) from Loughguile, County Antrim who is a final year apprentice at the College’s Ballymoney Campus, was among the winners at the prestigious Construction News Specialists gala awards dinner at the Hilton London Metropole.

A part time student at Northern Regional College has been shortlisted for a prestigious CIPD (Chartered Institute of Professional Development) award. CIPD is the professional body for HR and people development. Eimear Duffy, who is originally from Monaghan and now lives in Belfast, has been short-listed for the CIPD NI Best HR Student award, one of the 11 award categories. The winners will be announced at a glittering gala evening in the Titanic Belfast on Thursday 12 October.

Two former Foundation degree engineering students who studied at Northern Regional College in Ballymena are in Poland this week to compete at EuroSkills, the biggest vocational education and skills excellence event in Europe. Charlie Carson and Jason Scott, who studied Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering and Electric and Electronic Engineering respectively, have qualified to represent Team UK in the Robot Systems Integration category.

Polish native Konrad Buras, who studied part-time at Northern Regional College to achieve his goal of going to university, is about to embark on the next stage of his academic journey. Konrad completed both a Higher National Certificate in Construction and the Built Environment and GCSE English at the College while working full-time at IFS Global Logistics in Carrickfergus. His dedication and commitment to his studies paid off and later this month, he will start a BSc (Hons) degree in Energy as a full-time undergraduate student at Ulster University.
