Northern Regional College has submitted planning applications for its ambitious £84 million proposals to redevelop its current sites in Union Street, Coleraine and Farm Lodge, Ballymena. The applications for the redevelopment of the College’s current campuses in Coleraine and Ballymena were submitted to Causeway Coast and Glens Council and Mid and East Antrim Council respectively. Both applications were submitted on January 24 2018.

The one year Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care and the two year Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care have both been approved by the Northern Ireland Social Care Council and RQIA. Applicants should be in a care role, in either a full-time, part-time or voluntary capacity.

Northern Regional College’s Newtownabbey campus played host to the intercampus heat of the SkillBuild NI competition. The competition, which is governed and run by the Construction Industry and Training Board NI, saw 35 trainees and apprentices battle for a place at February’s NI SkillBuild Final, across a range of construction-related disciplines including: plumbing, carpentry, bricklaying, joinery and electrical installation.

Mrs Bradley was given a tour of the Campus and met with staff and students from the engineering department, who showcased the work they are doing in the area of robotics.
Continue ReadingNorthern Regional College student, 18-year-old Samuel Gilmore from Aghadowey, is pictured with Northern Regional College Principal and Chief Executive, Professor Terri Scott, at a reception in the college’s Coleraine campus to celebrate Samuel’s gold medal win in the carpentry division at the UK National Finals of WorldSkills UK LIVE. Samuel and his fellow competitors were given 18 hours to design and construct a children’s wooden climbing frame in front of 80,000 spectators in Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre. Samuel, a Level 2 apprentice, surpassed competition from Level 4 colleagues to become one of only four gold medal winners from Northern Ireland.
