Under his leadership the company has developed into one of Northern Ireland’s foremost manufacturing firms, growing from a team of four to a 120-person strong workforce.

David Hunter, Chief Executive of Larne-based social enterprise, Access Employment Limited (AEL), has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship by Northern Regional College. Working with AEL, the College has recently rebranded its site in Larne as the ‘Larne Community Hub’. AEL delivers college courses there and uses it as a base for social enterprises.

Claire Galloway, Clinical Lead Nurse for Sexual Health at the Northern Health & Social Care Trust, has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship by Northern Regional College. Claire is a previous winner of the Royal College of Nursing’s ‘Northern Ireland Nurse of the Year’ Award and has been recognised for transforming and modernising the Trust’s sexual health service.

Alison Wallace, Partner at Irwin Donaghey Stockman Chartered Accountants, has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship by Northern Regional College. Alison is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, successful business person and a leading local employer. As a former student of the College, Alison has long been a vocal and committed advocate of the Further Education sector and employs several Northern Regional College Higher Level Apprenticeship students within her own practice.

Northern Regional College apprentice Rory McCluskey, who previously won a prestigious gold medal at the Worldskills UK National finals, has been awarded his Foundation Degree in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. At the championships the Antrim man was recognised for his expertise in Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Milling, which involves programming, setting and running a modern CNC milling machine to accurately produce a component in a given timeframe.

The hassle of juggling work, part-time study and family life was forgotten about this week as Dunmurry mum, Leanne O’Neill graduated with Distinction from Northern Regional College. Leanne, who is a Trainee Design Manager with McLaughlin & Harvey was awarded a Foundation Degree in Building Technology and Management at the College’s annual higher education graduation ceremony in Galgorm.
