Marie Nancarrow, an award-winning designer and passionate advocate of sustainable fashion, has encouraged Art and Design students at Northern Regional College to ‘reuse, repurpose and recycle’ materials. During a visit to Northern Regional College’s Ballymena campus, Marie outlined how she identified a growing market for sustainable fashion and then launched her own business.

Marie’s business, Titanic Denim, creates bespoke fashion items using recycled denim and other fabrics.

Titanic Demin continues to go from strength to strength with a new collection of luxury sustainable denim bags due to be launched soon.

Marie spoke to the students about the daily challenges she faces as an entrepreneur and her exciting plans for Titanic Demin. She said: “For anyone who is prepared to work hard and seize every open opportunity, studying Art and Design can lead to exciting career prospects.”

Paul Wilson, Art lecturer at Northern Regional College, said: “We wish Marie every success, she already acts as an inspiration to our talented students.

“Marie is a very talented designer, and we are very appreciative of the time she took out of her busy schedule to talk to our students. Marie has given them a real insight into what is required to succeed in the creative industries.”
