Part Time Study Complements Role of Special Education Teacher

Thursday

Female

Suzanne Sloane successfully balanced the challenges of a teaching career with part-time study at Northern Regional College and intends coming back for more when the new academic year gets underway in September. Having completed the Ulster University validated Level 4 Counselling Studies at the College’s Ballymena campus, Suzanne plans to transition to the Foundation Degree in Integrative Counselling Practice to continue her studies at the College.

The Newtownabbey teacher, who is a Textiles and Fashion Design graduate, said the Level 4 Counselling Studies course was really useful for her work as an art teacher in Rosstulla Special School  Newtownabbey.

“While I see it as a steppingstone to progression and getting a qualification in counselling, I would have no hesitation recommending it to others as I really enjoyed the course.”

Suzanne continued: “The course was interesting, informative and very well structured. The standard of teaching was excellent and even when the sessions were online, they were still interactive. The discussions lead by the lecturers were well paced and perfectly complemented the practical sessions.
