The practical ‘hands on’ aspect of the Performing Arts course at Northern Regional College appealed to an aspiring songwriter from Portrush who is now on track to study music at university and pursue a career in music. After completing his GCSEs at Coleraine Grammar School, Joel Fleming (18) enrolled on the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts (Music) at the College’s Coleraine campus.

Northern Regional College has announced details of an exciting collaborative partnership with leading ISO specialists, IMSM which will give Foundation Degree Computing students at the College a unique opportunity for exceptional industrial experience and professional development. IMSM (International Management Systems Marketing Ltd) will assist with the delivery of the Cyber Security module of the Foundation Degree in Computing and will offer work experience with accredited professional development opportunities to students during their second year of the course.

As an approved testing centre for Adobe, Northern Regional College can now offer Adobe Certified Professional (ACP) to Creative Media students. From September 2021, all full time Level 3 Creative Media students will additionally study towards achieving ACP, the industry standard for Adobe products which include Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, InDesign, Animate, Dreamweaver and Premiere Pro.

Marie Nancarrow doesn’t just talk the talk, she walks the walk and has an award-winning sustainable fashion company, Titanic Denim, to show for it. Speaking to Art and Design students at Northern Regional College in Ballymena about the challenges she faces as an entrepreneur and her company’s future goals, Marie encouraged them to follow their dreams and to create their own niche. She said studying art and design could open doors to wonderful experiences and exciting careers but with an important caveat – be prepared to work hard and make the most of every opportunity.

College Open Days are not just for school-leavers as local nurse Hanan Billingsley has discovered. Although she has more than 10 years’ nursing experience under her belt, Hanan said she knows she made the right decision to return to education when she enrolled on a professionally accredited leadership course at Northern Regional College’s Newtownabbey campus.
