Northern Regional College has launched a ‘Death Positive Library’ in Ballymena. The initiative is one of the many positive outcomes of the College’s ongoing partnership with the Northern Health and Social Care Trust. It builds on the success of the ‘Read Yourself Well’ project, which aims to help people understand and manage their health and wellbeing through reading.

The scholarship aims to increase access to higher education for new students entering undergraduate education. Attending St Mary’s Grammar School in Magherafelt until he completed his GCSEs, Sean, aged 19 said knew he wanted to complete an alternative route of study, but wasn’t sure what it was he wanted to specialise in.

Thirty-six years old Bridie, who attended the College as a mature student, Maths and English classes at the College’s Newtownabbey campus and passed her GCSE exams in both subjects. This allowed her to progress and do an Access Diploma in Social Sciences at the College, which in turn helped her secure a place at Queen’s University Belfast to study midwifery - the next step on the journey to securing her dream job as a midwife.

Having completed his GCSE Maths and English at Northern Regional College, Stephen aimed to complete an Access Diploma in Social Sciences, which he completed in style, graduating with a distinction.
