Repair Recycle and Reuse – Restoration of Coleraine Listed Building in Safe Hands

The restoration of a late 19th century listed building in Coleraine will provide an important link between the old and the new in the town. Fully funded by the Department for the Economy, Northern Regional College’s impressive new campus at Union Street incorporates the former St Patrick’s Church of Ireland school buildings on Brook St. The campus design is sensitive to the townscape and heritage of the area and, with its main entrance from Anderson Park, it will create a stronger link between the College and town centre.

They have been invited to attend a special performance of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs as guests of drama and music students at Northern Regional College. The popular ‘panto’ is being staged by the students at the College’s Coleraine campus under the watchful eye of Performing Arts lecturers and joint producers, Danielle Birkett and Michaela Elliott.
Continue ReadingStudents from Northern Regional College were among the 30 young people from Northern Ireland’s Further Education Colleges recognised as the first recipients of a Northern Ireland Traineeship at a ceremony in Stormont. The new NI Traineeships enable school-leavers and adults to gain a qualification equivalent to five GCSEs (Level 2), while also gaining valuable work experience in the sector they are interested in. The students were recognised for exceptional progress, personal achievement, and their commitment to completing the Traineeship.

This academy allowed local people from Ballymena to come together to learn new skills supported by innovative local companies to help them kick start a career in Manufacturing. As well as learning new technical skills, the academy also focused on CV building and interview techniques which will help the trainees secure employment after the academy has ended.

The College is the FE sector Hub for Entrepreneurship in Northern Ireland and the programme included events, both online and face to face, for students at Newtownabbey, Coleraine, Ballymena, Magherafelt and Ballymoney.
